The Annular Eclipse

Partial Annular Eclipse
This evening after work, Noelle and I packed up Parker and the car and headed north. Our final destination would be the high mountains just outside Santa Fe, but we had a long drive before we would even make our destination for the night: Moriarty, New Mexico. On our way north we pass through Roswell. I had heard that Roswell was one of the places you could go to see the full annular eclipse. We borrowed some sun-viewing glasses from work and took them with us just in case we happened to be in the right place at the right time.

As it turns out, we made it into Roswell just before the projected time of the peak eclipse viewing. We drove around for a bit before finding a parking lot with a decent view of the sun and parked the car. We got out our sun-viewing glasses and  we were treated to a real phenomenon. While my camera was unable to capture the eclipse itself, we enjoyed the spectacle for about 20 minutes before getting back on the road.
