Abingdon Muster Grounds and the Overmountain Victory Trail

Today Noelle, Sierra and I drove up Interstate 81 into Virginia
to check out the town of Abingdon and the Muster Grounds there.
The Muster Grounds is where the Overmountain Men staged for their march to King's Mountain. We checked out the exhibits in the visitor center and Sierra even got to try on a tri-corner hat.
Then we headed outside to hike a short section of the Overmountain Victory Trail which traces the route of the American rebels. We saw lots of geese
and crossed a bridge over a creek which the trail then closely followed.
Eventually the trail cam to a road where it ended. We retraced our steps back to the visitor center (and an old mansion unrelated to the Overmountain Men)
and then headed into town for lunch at Dairy Queen.
